about
The song showcases a captivating blend of influences from anti-hero characters, such as The Punisher, Spider Jerusalem, Wolverine, and Ghost Rider. Additionally, the name 'Nightcrawler' is a nod to the namesake Marvel character and the 2014 neo-noir psychological thriller film.
The band's latest single also arrives ahead of their highly-anticipated 6-track debut EP, which is expected to be released sometime in August or September this year. The EP is tipped to have physical releases by several Southeast Asian several labels by the end of 2023.
Drawing inspiration from notable metal acts like Deafheaven and Cradle of Filth, as well as hardcore bands including Strife, Comeback Kid, and Rise Against, Nightjar has crafted a unique musical experience in 'Nightcrawler'. For this particular track, the band has also delved into more obscure groups like the pioneering French emocore outfit Fingerprint, among others.
lyrics
In the pitch black of night,
While everyone else is sleeping,
There's a man who's awake, he pulsates with heavy breathing,
His conscience seems clear, and yet he's ever so brooding,
But there's nowhere else, or no one else to whom he belongs,
He's all desolate, his anguish is inked all through his skin,
He's damned this earth and vows to ever watch it burn.
His dreams are shattered, a lonesome tragedy,
His spirit was undying, but now it's time to grieve,
His past comes back to haunt him, and yet there's no relief,
The oceans of despair, can't change his history.
He's the nightcrawler amid chaos and disorder,
As slender as the prince of dreams,
As conniving as lucifer.
His dreams are shattered, a lonesome tragedy,
His spirit was undying, but now it's time to grieve,
His past comes back to haunt him, and yet there's no relief.
